OUR INSPIRATION

Originally owned by George Washington, Colvin Run Mill, located in Great Falls, Virginia, is an early 19th century operating gristmill named after Washington’s mentor, Colville and the tributary that feeds it, Difficult Run. The mill symbolized a revolution in automation since it required very little manual labor.

Gravity and waterpower moves the grain through the mill. Human labor is only needed to start, stop and adjust the machinery. This 200-year-old water-powered working mill is still in operation today.
